News and info - Voss, Bormio and next week's race

News and info.......

We will be adding more details as they get confirmed but for now:-

VOSS - Ravens are travelling to Voss next year (February half term) for another weeks slalom training and general instruction (for the mums and dads). Cost is likely to be c. £830 which includes your flight, full board accomodation, ski pass, coaching and packed lunch.

Bormio - Ravens are also heading to Italy for the English Alpine Championships (http://www.snowsportengland.org.uk/blog/2012/03/english-alpine-champs-2013). The cost would be £460 which includes all inclusive accommodation and coaching (approx costs). Lift pass approx £100 plus race entry then just transport to sort out!

Summer Series Next Week

NEXT WEEK - is a continuation of the summer race series. So once again get those skis waxed up, there is valable points to be had.

After a fantastic weekend (7-8th July 2012) in which 3 of our junior ladies achieve first place in their respective age groups and two of the gents receive 2nd places, the Sunderland Echo has interview our committee to learn about the success and how others in Sunderland and Newcastle can get involved.

Ravens win at British Nationals

Ravens winners and runners up are photographed by Peter Berry (Official Sunderland Echo photographer) on Saturday.

Today was the Inter-regional dual slalom competition in which Ravens A team (NESA1) made it through to the semi-finals with some very precise skiing from the team (Adam, Millie, Tom, James, Iam, Francesca and Rory).

There was even a nail biting finish in the second last race when Rory Farren and his opposite competitor finished with a gap of 0.00secs - a draw!

The B Team of Katie, Georgie, Ben, Lol, Richard, Lois and Roddy performed well but were able to make it through to the semis. Well done to them anyway they did the club proud. 

.....and finally a big thanks to Lee Bennett our race coach, thanks for giving up your weekend to coach, develop and support us during the two days.

Ravens take home the silverware at British Dry Slope Championships 2012

A strong performance particularly from the ladies saw a huge haul of silverware for the Ravens Racers.

In top spots coming first was:
Lois Jackson - U12
Millie Jackson - U14
Francesca Lee - U16

In the mens there was similar great success with
Rory Farren - U16 runner up
Richard Weir - Masters runner up
